Arabella Hirner

Arabella Hirner was born in Munich in 1967. After studying music and movement education in Salzburg, she studied percussion in Amsterdam from 1991 to 1994. Since 1994 she has been a percussionist with the “Austrian Ensemble for New Music” and has been active in numerous music projects – from duo formations to crossover, especially with dance – and in orchestra and ensemble work. Since 1999 she has also been a lecturer in percussion methodology/didactics, bodypercussion and body health at the Detmold University of Music. Children’s and youth projects (e.g. 1st Biennale Salzburg 2009) round off the activities of the married mother of two children. Her knowledge of body percussion, Indian rhythm/percussion instruments, non-violent communication and neurophysiological developmental support, gained through further training, flows into these projects.
