Michael Seifried was born in Wolfsberg/Carinthia and studied musicology and art history at the Vienna Conservatory and the University of Vienna. Since then, his artistic activities have focused on new and recent chamber music and solo literature. He has been a regular guest with Klangforum Wien since 1993 and a member of Ensemble Wiener Collage since 1996.
In 1997 he was engaged by the Tonkünstler Orchester Niederösterreich, from 2009 as solo bassist. As a chamber musician he can be heard at the concerts of the Grafenegg Festival, for the first time in 2013 at the Esbjerg ICMF as well as at the Vienna Konzerthaus. 2007 marks the beginning of his involvement in the projects of the œnm . œsterreichisches ensemble fuer neue musik. Recent solo performances include equally high-quality and diverse musical worlds such as the ÖEA of Kurt Schwertsik’s concerto with the Tonkünstler and Rebecca Saunders’ Concerto fury II at the Biennale Salzburg 2013.
