Alexander Bauer

Alexander Ludwig Bauer was born in Munich in 1993. He was admitted to the University Mozarteum in Salzburg in the winter semester of 2003/04 and was a young student in the organ class of Prof. Hannfried Lucke until 2012. He has won several organ competitions, including “Jugend musiziert”, where he was awarded first prize in 2006 and 2009, the special prize of the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben and a scholarship from the Jürgen Ponto Foundation, the “Heidelberg Organ Competition for Young Organists” and the international “Quimby Organ Competition” in London. Concert engagements have taken him to Germany and surrounding countries.

Since 2012 he has been studying composition at the Mozarteum University with Christian Ofenbauer and Prof. Achim Bornhöft and organ with Hannfried Lucke. He is active as a composer in the instrumental and electronic fields. Since 2017 he is technical-artistic assistant at the Studio for Electronic Music (SEM) of the Mozarteum University. Performances at the Salzburg Biennale, as part of the “Young Directors Project 2014” at the Salzburg Festival, at the ZKM Karlsruhe, at the “Inter-” festival in Glasgow, at the “stART Festival” and at the “Dialoge” festival in Salzburg, among others.

As a musician, he is a member of the ensembles NAMES and œnm . œsterreichisches ensemble fuer neue musik.
