Fritz Kronthaler

Fritz Kronthaler is a versatile musician both musically and instrumentally. He plays the entire clarinet and saxophone family, with a special love for the low instruments bass clarinet, contrabass clarinet and baritone saxophone. After completing his concert studies at the Mozarteum University of Music and Performing Arts in Salzburg, he has been a freelance musician since 1995, specialising in contemporary music. Since 1992, as a member of the “Austrian Ensemble for New Music”, he has participated in numerous premieres of solo pieces for bass clarinet in Brno, Salzburg, Karlsruhe and Edinburgh, in concerts at the Warsaw Autumn and in various concerts at the Salzburg Festival and at the Darmstadt Summer Courses. He is also involved in conceptual improvised music, jazz and plays in the band die Querschläger.
